Welcome from the Pastor

Dear Visitor,

We are pleased that you are visiting the Island Pond Baptist Church website and hope to be helpful in any way we can. Whether searching for a new church home or just browsing, we appreciate your interest. Allow me to share a few important facts about our church family - facts that should focus on who we are and why we believe what we believe.

First, Island Pond is a Bible-centered church. We are committed to developing and maintaining a strong teaching/discipling ministry in the pulpit, Sunday School and through a myriad of other educational endeavors. In a world fractured and in theological flux, we preach and teach so as to inform the mind with truth and stir the heart to action. Scripture is the inspired, inerrant Sword of the Spirit - and between the edge and point of this Book - minds change, hearts mend, and falsehood cannot stand.

Second, believing that truth exists and is worth defending we hold to our Articles of Faith, with emphasis! While doctrine is not difficult to understand, it is dangerous to mistake. Hence, we have set down our beliefs in creedal form - to precisely formulate and clearly define expressions of faith and practice which we believe are diligently taught in the Word of God. Today's disposition is to evade and equivocate. There are many who would water down the biblical gospel while espousing errors as deep and tangled as tree roots. To correct this we must emphasize a doctrinal unity that is distinctly and decidedly evangelical.

Third, as a congregation, we aspire to worship the Lord in "spirit and in truth." As God is to be loved and obeyed, He is also to be worshiped. The whole of the universe is radiant with the perfect blaze of His Splendor! How can the church keep silent? It is the highest privilege to approach the Sovereign of all things and have access to the Throne of Glory. Praise and thanksgiving closes the gap between ourselves and the One we adore. Sing out to the Lord and let the rafters ring!

Fourth, Island Pond Baptist Church is committed to being a strong evangelistic center to New England and the world beyond. Our sins are not greater than God's mercy, so we delight in sharing the Calvary love of Christ. Jesus is our Lord and Savior! This is not a time for timid apologists but for bold ambassadors armed with divine authority, proclaiming gospel truth and owning its power, to the salvation of souls and the glory of God.

Lastly, we are a fellowship of believers. True Christians just don't go to church - they are the church. The church is not a piece of real estate. Nor is it a copious collection of bricks, pews, hymnals and stained glass. The church is living…it's alive with God's special people! Ransomed, redeemed and reconciled people but people, nevertheless. Not perfect but forgiven. Not holier-than-thou, but accepted in Christ. Called, committed and commissioned ~ we are loving and compassionate members of the same forever family ~ living out the special relationship we have with our Father in Heaven and one another. We draw every breath trusting ourselves to that Hand which was nailed to the cross, for us.

There is much more to share, but these facts should help in grasping our benchmarks as a congregation. With Jesus Christ at the core of our beliefs and practice, we think church should be enjoyed not endured. He is the dawn to our darkness and looking for a solid church home in which to worship and serve Him, shouldn't leave one guessing. Please take the time to explore our website and if we can answer any questions, don't hesitate to contact me or any of our staff. The honor is to serve.

His, for the Kingdom!
